About The Melby Family
Some people like the city. Some people like to get away. But our family really likes to get away. So, for years, we searched for just the right place for us to escape. It had to be within driving distance of our home and allow us to build a big place for all our friends too.
After years of searching we had just about given up on our dream. But then, one day we found found it on a secluded mountain top that is as far off the road as you can really get now a days. Between the areas of Roslyn-Cle Elum to the South and the replica Bavarian Village of Leavenworth, both in Washington State, there is a large region of woods and streams and mountains.>/p>
Much of the property is owned by government entities but there - right in the middle of it all - we found a pristine private inholding of land that we thought would be perfect.
In time, and with a little luck, we were able to buy that very special piece of land and the project was underway. The location is over six miles from the Blewett Pass Highway; an area served only by forest-service roads. It is so remote that in winter we have to use our 10 person snow-cat to bring in the family, friends and guests. In summer it is easier but still nature surrounds us and neighbors don't.
After acquiring the land, we spent several years building a bold log lodge that fits into the surrounding areas like a glove. But we also built in fund things to do, including a gourmet kitchen, big screen TV's, pool table and satellite TV. Our family really loves this place and we hope you and your family can come to visit and enjoy it as much as we do.
